Welcome to Lerner Fashion Week day #2! Now that we’ve all learned how to make our buckskins look best, it’s time to focus on some “rugged looks for rugged men” from our new book Calico Dresses and Buffalo Robes: American West Fashions from the 1840s to the 1890s.
If you’re looking for warm clothing this fall, consider the “trapper style.” Clothing made from the skins of buffalo, deer, and beaver were all the rage in the 1800s. Maybe we should bring the trapper look back! These clothes are warm, waterproof, and easy to patch!
To win a set of books from our new Dressing a Nation: The History of U.S. Fashion series, leave a comment below or send out the following Tweet: “RT to win! I’m bringing the trapper style back with @Lernerbooks Fashion Week http://www.lernerbooks.blogspot.com #contest!”
Stay tuned for more Lerner Fashion Week! Tomorrow we’ll talk all about women who dared to wear pants!
