Did you know that 2019 marks the 60th anniversary of Lerner Publishing Group? Harry Lerner founded the company in 1959, and it’s been going strong ever since.
The first series Harry Lerner published was called Medical Books for Children. (You can read more about one of Lerner’s first books in this blog post!) The original plan was to sell bookstores at doctor’s offices, hospital gift shops, department stores, and bookstores. But when Harry noticed that libraries were doing most of the ordering, he changed his plan and started creating informational books with library bindings tough enough to withstand heavy circulation.

Today Harry’s oldest son, Adam Lerner, is CEO and Publisher of Lerner, while Harry remains Chairman of the Board. To read more about Lerner’s 60th anniversary celebration, read the press release posted on our website and this Publishers Weekly feature.
