In a recent post, I shared that I’ve been a pretty enthusiastic follower of this year’s presidential contest. Whichever side of the political aisle you tend to lean toward, you have to admit that it has been a wild and fascinating ride thus far! And there’s no reason adults and older students should be the only ones who get to follow along with political events. I’m a big believer that our sense of civic duty and commitment to voting are formed when we are young. I’m passionate about exercising my right to vote, and I still remember my elementary teachers explaining why voting is such a privilege. I hope tomorrow’s future voters are fortunate enough to hear this same message—and it would be a tremendous honor if our First Step Nonfiction Exploring Government series played a part in that!
