Free Book Friday: Don’t Call Me Grandma

Happy Friday! Congratulations to Melanie Burton (@TheGingerLib), who’s won Whose Hands Are These?: A Community Helper Guessing Book. Melanie, send your address to publicity@lernerbooks.com and we’ll get your book in the mail.

In honor of Black History Month, we’re giving away a copy of Don’t Call Me Grandma, written by Coretta Scott King Honoree Vaunda Micheaux Nelson and illustrated by Elizabeth Zunon.

Great-grandmother Nell eats fish for breakfast, she doesn’t hug or kiss, and she does NOT want to be called grandma. Her great-granddaughter isn’t sure what to think about her. As she slowly learns more about Nell’s life and experiences, the girl finds ways to connect with her prickly great-grandmother.
Check out a Q&A with Vaunda about her previous picture book (The Book Itch) that we did last year here.
If you’d like to win Don’t Call Me Grandma, please leave a comment on this post (including your first and last name), or tweet this line:
