Looking Back, Looking Forward

I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of 2013! It has been quite a year, in more ways than one. Looking back, here are a few highlights.

The Long, Long Journey: The Godwit’s Amazing Migration by Sandra Markle and illustrated by Mia Posada is on the SLJ Best Books 2013 Nonfiction list. It’s also a 2014 NSTA-CBC Outstanding Science Trade Book for Students K-12.

Millbrook has 3 titles on this year’s NYPL 100 Books for Reading and Sharing list.

The Case of the Vanishing Honeybees: A Scientific Mystery by Sandra Markle

Ick! Yuck! Eew! Our Gross American History by Lois Miner Huey

Miracle Mud: Lena Blackburn and the Secret Mud That Changed Baseball by David A. Kelly, illustrated by Oliver Dominguez

Slate ran a wonderful article by Amanda Schaffer about Bone by Bone: Comparing Animal Skeletons by Sara Levine, illustrated by T. S Spookytooth.

As proud as I am of the books published in 2013, I’m equally excited about what’s coming up in 2014. You can check out a preview of the Spring 2014 books from all of Lerner’s imprints from Betsy Bird. Or you can listen in as editors present the books at our webinar with SLJ on Thursday of this week.

2014 . . . here we come!
