The Flavors of Europe

Hi, Everyone. Production Editor Brie Cohen is guest blogging today. Thanks, Brie!

This week I came home from my 3-week vacation to Europe. And it was wonderful! Here is a brief look at what I did:

First we went to Switzerland.

Fondue

We ate lots of fondue! Here, a piece of bread is being dipping into a Gyuére fondue. We did everything you could involving cheese. We ate raclette and toured the Emmi Roth cheese caves!

building

We saw lots of colorful buildings and restaurants and tried to figure out how to speak German.

alphorn

We even caught a free evening alphorn show near Lake Lucerne.

After Switzerland, we went to France.

EiffelTower

We ate at the Ducasse restaurant (called Jules Verne) inside the Eiffel Tower. Look at our beautiful view!

Ducasse1

The food was amazing! This dish is called Pavé de Bar poelé meuniére, oignons/raisins/noix, verjus. It’s sea bass, onions, grapes, and walnuts, and verjus.

vineyard

We also went on day of vineyard tours in Provence. It was beautiful!

Then we made our last stop in Italy.

FlorianCafe

We ate breakfast and listened to music at a 300-year-old café.

Gondola

We went on a Gondola ride in Venice.

pizza

We found the best pizza in Rome at Pizzeria de Baffetto. This is their signature pizza.

Gelato

And made sure we ate Gelato every night!

You can find more information about these countries in our Country Explorers books. We have one book on each of these three countries! Switzerland; France; and Italy!
