A what?! The crocodilian family is made up of alligators crocodiles, caimans, and gharials. These reptiles love in various parts of the world, and they all have big, sharp, scary teeth. But when they first hatch, crocodilians are surprisingly tiny and helpless. As Bridget Heos explains in What to Expect When You’re Expecting Hatchlings: A Guide for Crocodilian Parents (and Curious Kids), raccoons, wildcats, and some other creatures, crocodilian babies are fun-sized snacks!

The Expecting Hatchlings book provides answers all the key questions a crocodilian parent-to-be might have. These questions include:  Should I build my nest in a tree? (No!) How will I know when my babies are ready to hatch? (They make a funny sound from inside their shells!) What will my babies do all day? (Swim!) Humorous illustrations from Stéphane Jorisch add to the fun.

Hatchlings not really your thing? We also have books in this series about baby insects and joeys (baby marsupials)!
