If you read this blog regularly or read children’s nonfiction regularly, then you surely know the name Sandra Markle. Sandra has written more than two hundred nonfiction books for children. We have published her books in both our Lerner imprint and Millbrook Press. Highlights include the Arachnid World series, Animal Heroes: True Rescue Stories, and The Case of the Vanishing Golden Frogs: A Scientific Mystery. In fact, that last book just won the Science Books & Film Prize!

For 2012, Sandra is launching something new: Markle’s Book Explorers. The program is open to ten schools in the Unites States. Sandra will supply each of the schools with a copy of any of her books published during that year plus copies of any of her books that receive special awards. She will also provide a virtual visit to the school (via Skype) and respond throughout the year to up to six emails from students (as shared by their teacher).
