In reading PW online last week, I was interested—both as a book person and as a francophile (and francophone)–to notice that a new literary magazine and literary prize are on the horizon. Shakespeare and Company bookstore (above), a must-see stop on any literary tour of Paris, is officially announcing the launch of Paris Magazine later this month as part of its June literary festival. The magazine is edited by former Granta managing editor Fatema Ahmed and will include fiction, nonfiction, and illlustrations. (Presumably this is all English-language material, since the store carries English-language books.)
The bookstore will also give out a 10k-euro (roughly $12k) prize every two years to the author of the best novella. For more information about the magazine and the literary prize, check out the PW article of last week. The bookstore’s website is pretty cool, so give it a look-see too. There’s more information about the literary festival on the site. Just click on the Festival tab on the menu.
Be sure to check in next week for more from TFCB!
